"The Beast" (a Nissan Patrol 4WD) is included as part of your surfing package. Arriving at King Island airport the Beast will be ready for you to pickup and drive straight to the surf you spotted 10 minutes earlier by the plane.
A few of the main surfing breaks such as Martha Lavinia, Porkys and British Admiral Beach are well sign-posted and accessed off the main roads. However, to get to King Island’s many surfing spots you will require some help to find them in the form of a 4WD, a dogdy surf map, advice and a good sense of adventure - Fortunately we have kindly provided 3 of these for you.
Many of the surf spots are accessed only by rugged 4WD tracks so we provide you with a fully kitted-out Nissan Patrol 4WD* that is more than capable of getting over the next sand dune to find that perfect wave. The Beast can take up to 7 people with surfboards on the roof, has extra heavy duty suspension and lift kit, massive 35inch wide tractor tires and plenty recovery gear - just incase.
Although King Island is relatively smallish in size being 65 km long and 25 km wide, without a good map and some knowledge of the island, surf breaks and weather conditions you can spend a lot of time driving searching for waves.
We want to make sure you maximise your surfing time, especially if you are only going for the 1 or 2 day trip. Hence we make it as easy as possible for you with a quick 10 minute debrief before you depart on the weather conditions, and where the to find the best surf during your trip, we also supply you with a map to navigate the many 4WD tracks to access the surf.
Please read our full Hire Car Term and Conditions here.
*If in an event when the Nissan Patrol is not available to use due to servicing or any other circumstance we will provide you with an alternate mode of 4WD transport.
